Air Blue ED202 was found in the midst of Margalla Hills yesterday in Islamabad at 9.44am PST.
And that’s just the news.
The bad news is that there were no survivors. This is according to DAWN, the worst planecrash in Pakistan’s aviation history. And that’s not just it. The people on board- might not matter to you- but they did to families in both Karachi and Islamabad.
The pilot, the crew, the total 152 passengers…. all dead.
It’s not grief that has compelled me to write this. It’s pure frustration. This wasn’t an earthquake. This could have been avoided. Yes Allah willed this for them, but our failure in preventing this is too evident to be avoided.
I live near the airport. I see airplanes skim through clouds even in Karachi’s severest of monsoons. Why this then?
Im not saying that if time had been rewinded, they would’ve saved all those onboard. All Im saying is that a people cant be changed unless they change themselves.
Too many have died. In the target killings, in the someone else’s war we’re fighting, in the electrocution because of the rain, in this plane crash.
Thunder and lightning are daily business now. That’s the way things are. But as I headed home yesterday, I realized that we’re all selfish.
“We will not cry until the fire reaches our own home”. Thats what my literature teacher said.
The city of light is being burnt to the ground. Our “leaders” are lying to our face- telling us that it’ll be okay. Those outside the Land of the Pure worry at our state. They make phonecalls, reassuring us. Telling us that Allah is in control. That He has planned this. And that He is the Best of Planners.
Im fifteen and I’ve seen death. It doesn’t suck. But it’s not heaven either. For now all we can do is have faith/hope and keep praying as if everything depends on that one act of praying. That’s what unites us. All of us. Even those who have left us behind.
Gravity. I thought it was what could hold you. Turns out it only holds you back.
City of Lights

“Or like a rainstorm from the sky, wherein is darkness, thunder, and lightning. They thrust their fingers in their ears to keep out the stunning thunderclap for fear of death. But Allah ever encompasses the disbelievers (i.e. Allah will gather them all together).
The lightning almost snatches away their sight, whenever it flashes for them, they walk therein, and when darkness covers them, they stand still. And if Allah willed, He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Certainly, Allah has power over all things.”
